Ahoy!

We spend many happy days enjoying narrowboat trips on the river Nene, the Ouse and even along the Grand Union Canal.

Unfortunately 2012 looks like being the year of 'not going far' due to water shortages and restrictions likely to be put in place. However, whatever the weather and whether we wander near or far, we'll be having the kind of fun that's the essence of 'getting away from it all'.

Our 60 foot narrowboat Dorcas Lane is named after a character in the well loved book 'Lark Rise To Candleford' known for her elegance and sense of fun. Funnily enough we're now moored next to a boat named Lark Rise/ Those of you who know the story of Lark Rise to Candleford will understand the amusement for both sets of boat owners!

We started off our narrowboating travels, in 2010, travelingl mostly on the stretches of river which pass by Aldwincle, Wadenhoe, Oundle, Ashton, Fotheringhay, Elton and on up towards Peterborough, through some of the most beautiful countryside alongside the river. However, we've gone much further afield now, as you can read on the blog.

If you want to find out more about what a narrowboat is like inside, visit us onboard. Find out more about what it's like once guests are all aboard .

We try to keep some sort of a diary during the season, which features people, places and even the odd load of friendly pirates we meet along the river! Visit the Dorcas Lane blog.
